#noooooooooo #no but let’s talk about this scene #because this scene is brutal. and it is perfect. and cruel. and agonizingly tragic in every way that this show is tragic. #because there’s caroline with blood smeared across her mouth and she’s just killed someone #but it’s caroline - and she didn’t mean to. but she did. and she liked it. and it’s a traumatic birth; a monstrous one. #except she’s the monster. and she looks at bonnie. and there’s that sense of shame (because it’s bonnie) and her face. i just. #and then there’s bonnie who can’t comprehend; who won’t. #and she reaches out to touch her—the girl she’s known almost her entire life. #(hugged; clasped hands; ring-a-ring-o-roses-a-cup-a-full-of-posies-ashes-ashes-we-all-fall) #and the first time she touched a vampire - bonnie felt death and pain and the agonised screams of a thousand deaths. #and now she’s touching her caroline (caroline!) and she feels death. she hears carter’s death-screams. she sees it. and it cuts her. #(and i think she thinks maybe and yes this is partly my fault. and a part of her just cannot deal with that) #and she yanks her hand away and it’s the most cruel thing but it’s completely understandable. #there is palpable horror here. and grief. so much grief. and all she can say is no. #and caroline can only say her name because again this is bonnie. and bonnie can’t leave her. not now. (but she can for a bit) #(if bonnie sees her as a monster—then she must be one; a little) #and there’s something so incredibly lost about her voice; thin and pained and horrible. #and bonnie can’t deal with it right then because there’s all these thoughts coalescing at once #and the loudest of them is blaring: caroline’s dead; caroline’s a killer; caroline’s one of them (what did i do?) #but then what’s amazing is the scene that comes after where bonnie takes a step into the monstrous herself (it’s not an exclusive club) #and she nearly kills a man (a vampire; surely they don’t count; HE DID THIS) #and she follows this instinct to lash out and destroy because there has to be someone to blame; something into which she can pour out #every inch of what she’s feeling (emotionally-stunted creature here) #and it doesn’t work (but it almost does.) and it’s the most perfect thing you guys #like this moment is everything to me. it is known.

this is the story of a girl who should never have been mistaken for not seizing a moment when she needed it most.
